Shani Dev Temple is in proximity to Yamunotri in the small village Kharsali in Uttarkashi district. The temple holds huge reverence among the people. It is believed to be the oldest temple of Shani Dev and was built by Pandavas. Shani Dev, the son of Surya Devta, is the brother of Goddess Yamuna. The temple is considered the winter seat of Goddess Yamuna.
The remarkable stone structure of the Shani Dev Temple located at Kahrsali makes it worthy of visiting, not only because of its religious significance but architectural grandeur as well. The devotees can offer their prayers to the bronze effigy of Shani Dev placed on the fourth floor of the temple.
