Yamunotri Dham is one of the four pilgrimages of Char Dham Yatra and the source of the holy River Yamunotri. Located at an elevation of 3293 meters above sea level, Yamunotri is surrounded by magnificent mountains. It is in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and lies in the proximity of the Indo-China border.

Yamunotri Dham is not an on-road temple. You need to trek a certain distance to reach the destination. However, you can reach Janki Chatti, which is the closest place to Yamunotri Dham and well connected by motorable roads with the major cities of Uttarakhand. Janki Chatti is around 180 km from Dehradun and takes about 6 hours to reach by car.
Buses frequently run from Dehradun ISBT and Haridwar bus terminal to Hanuman Chatti or Barkot. From Barkot, you need to take another bus or shared jeep to reach Janki Chatti.
Rishikesh and Dehradun are the two nearest railway stations from Yamunotri Dham. Both the stations are well connected with the major cities of the country through the network of railways. You can find frequent trains to Dehradun and Rishikesh. Once you reach Dehradun or Rishikesh, you can reach Yamunotri Dham through motorable roads with taxis and buses.
Airport– The nearest airport to Yamunotri is Jolly Grant Airport. It is around 210 km away from the destination. You can get flights from the major cities of the country to Jolly Grant Airport. Once you reach the airport, you can hire a taxi that will take you to Janki Chatti, from where you need to trek for 5 km to reach Yamunotri Dham.
